Mall Walkers

Today started very early for the Shroll Patrol ... It's not unusual for me to wake up several (many) times in the night to use the restroom or change positions, and poor Jason is not always able to go back to sleep after I awaken him with my antics. So he was up around 5 AM, and I got up at 6 ... I guess we should get used to being up this early!

We decided to get out of the house for perhaps one of our last quiet meals as a couple, so we had a huge breakfast at Sundance Grill downtown. Afterwards I convinced him to go to the Mall so we could maybe get things started with some exercise. He was very hesitant about being a "Mall Walker", but he obliged. For probably the second time in nine (ten) months of being pregnant, we found an available "FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS ONLY" parking spots. Score!

So we puttered around the mall for forty five minutes or so, and ran into several people we knew, which was fun. It was also fun pretending to be a certified Mall Walker - at 10:30 in the morning, the mall is practically crawling with them. There are almost as many Mall Walkers as there are children on the giant plastic breakfast foods in the play area. Why breakfast foods? I've never figured it out, but the children seem to love it. Maybe once our little one arrives, I'll ask him why a giant pile of fake bacon is so appealing.

I forgot to give props to Kelli Saunders in our first blog posting. Kelli was the originator of the phrase "Shroll Patrol", which she gave us on our way to Mackinac Island when she was forced to listen to Jason and I bickering for three and a half hours. Kelli, thank you for all you put up with, and thanks being the namesake of our official family blog :D

Eight Days (or so) to go...

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to our first posting on "The Shroll Patrol"! We are planning to use this blog to communicate with all of our friends and family as we welcome our new bundle of joy into the world.

So far, we have been blessed with an easy pregnancy. Shana has done very well and remains in good spirits even in the "home stretch". Of course, we would both be ready any time if the baby decides to make an early appearance!

Over the past several months, we have worked to prepare the nursery ... check it out.

The lion rocker is from Grandma and Grandpa Shroll - we named him "Rory" :D

The theme of the nursery is "Alphabet Soup". When we were picking it out, we thought maybe if he were immersed in letters and numbers from birth, he would learn to read by osmosis, become a super-genius and we would never have to worry about his college tuition. We'll see how that plan works ...
